Annual Membership Meeting

It’s almost time for our Annual meeting which will be held again this year at the Villa Royale. Check-in starts at 1pm, drinks will be available upon check-in. Business meeting will begin at 1:30 and be wrapped up by 2:30, leaving more time for socializing with friends and neighbors.

Dues are no longer mandatory but donations are appreciated. Our treasurer will be available to answer questions and receive donations—again, these are voluntary.

We’ll cover the usual business (the board approved 2020 budget will be available for review), election of board members (see bios that follow)* and share quick comments on topics of interest. This will include attendees voting on the new blade/neighborhood entry signs design and announcing the winner!

Come meet new neighbors and visit with those you already know. Looking forward to seeing you at Villa Royale on the 23rd!

*Note that the mailed invitation postcard erroneously listed last year's candidates.
Below is the correct roster of candidates for open positions.

The meeting agenda includes the following:

Jill Cotner (expires 2022)

Hello—My name is Jill Cotner. I’ve served on the TRENO board for the past few years. I am a 52 year resident of Palm Springs and a 48 year resident of TRENO. I love this neighborhood and where I live. I’ve enjoyed helping the board on various activities. I’m a retired teacher but very active in my now “free” time. I hope I can continue to do so for the TRENO board.

David Slack (expires 2022)

Hello, my name is David Slack and in early 2014, my husband and I moved from San Francisco to Palm Springs.

I am currently the Director of Finance for the John F. Kennedy Memorial Foundation, and have been the Treasurer of TRENO for the past 3 years.

For almost all of my life, I have been involved in organizations that resonate with me, either as a career, or volunteer. I have over 30 years of non-profit accounting experience, and have volunteered at many organizations.

Since moving to Palm Springs, I have volunteered for Revivals, Palm Springs Unified School District Foundation and DezArt Performs, to mention a few areas of my community involvement.

We very much enjoy living in TRENO, and I would be happy to continue to assist to maintain and improve the livability and quality of life for neighborhood residents, and our community.

I would be honored to receive your vote for TRENO Advisory Council member.

Gary Damaschino (expires 2022—fills vacant 2019 seat)

My name is Gary Damaschino and in 2014 my husband and I moved from San Francisco to Palm Springs.

For the past 45 plus years I have been an elementary school teacher, and I am currently a K-3 substitute teacher for Palm Springs Unified School District.

I truly enjoy the people of this wonderful desert and all of the great entertainment offered here. (Plus, the weather is perfect for outdoor activities.)

I hope you’ll allow me to serve on the TRENO Advisory Council.

Paul Crippan (expires 2022)

My name is Paul Crippan and live on Mesquite Ave since 2001. I have been involved with TRENO from its very beginning.

I was one of the original chartered members to help formulate the City’s Neighborhood Involvement Committee. As your TRENO representative, I worked closely with the other eight neighborhoods and with PS City Council members to build it into an effective communication source for PS City Council and staff.

It has been my pleasure to serve as a member as well as chaired our neighborhood organization. Also, I have represented our neighborhood as well as provided leadership to the City’s neighborhoods. My current role with our neighborhood is to help maintain continuity of our history and past operations.

Under my direction and leadership, our Council has improved the quality and safety of our neighborhood. I worked to have a neighborhood policemen assigned to each neighborhoods which have reduced crime and identified crime areas. I have also worked with the City’s Code Enforcement staff to remove abandoned cars, reduce blight homes and noise from vacation rentals.

The current TRENO Council members are an outstanding group of dedicated neighbors who meet monthly to make ongoing improvements and look at ways to deal with issues. I am proud to be part of our Council.

I would be honored to have your vote.

Michael Kohl (expires 2021—fills vacant 2018 seat)
