Many Tahquitz River Estates neighbors “mark” the New Year with long-time resident “Marc” Hampton. Marc is an Imperialist. He hosts a car show and BBQ in January. Marc drives the event, and fellow Southern California Imperial Owners help with roll out. Think of the event a “concours d’casual” – right here in our neighborhood.
My partner Rob and I purchased our 1958 mid-century modernhome on E San Lucas in December 2009. We immediately embarked on stripping away design “elements” that were not original to the house (mirrors, shiny marble tile etc.). In addition we restored things that had been removed (the wooden beam ores had been sawed off; original breeze block etc.). The 80/90s were not kind to our house.
The City of Palm Springs have established an ordinance to ban all gas leaf blowers effective as of January 1, 2019. Only electric blowers will be allowed and the PS Municipal Code allows blowing from 8 AM to 8 PM in residential zones.
Tahquitz Canyon is a place where an evil spirit hunts for people’s souls. Banished by the Cahuilla People for causing death and destruction, Tahquitz (pronounced Taw-kwish) is reported to appear as a green meteor-like ball of fire.
