NEIGHBORHOOD MATTERS
Tahquitz Creek Parkway Beautification
Project
Since the neighborhood began to meet the Tahquitz Creek
area has been a source of concern. Once a popular place
for children and family outings, the Creek had long lost
its attraction after it was channelized in the 1980s and
trash, litter and homeless encampments became
predominant. Now TRENO residents, along with Deepwell
Estates and Warm Sands residents, working with the City
of Palm Springs and Riverside County Flood Control, are
poised to revitalize the creek area by re-landscaping
along S. Riverside Dr., creating an inviting picnic area
near the freshly painted foot bridge; installing a path
along the south side of the channel; and creating new
foot and bike paths that lead to the Tahquitz Canyon
Visitors Center and to other paths within the City. And
that's just the beginning!
