TRENO
Disaster Readiness Preparation
When a major disaster or other catastrophic event
occurs, survival and recovery7 will depend upon individual
preparedness and neighbors helping one another.
Members of TRENO (Tahquitz River Estates Neighborhood
Organization) are developing a neighborhood emergency
communication and response plan that can be put into
action if a major disaster or health threat occurs.
According to emergency responders, it will take 72 hours
or more before medical or other vital services are
restored. 72 hours is a long time, if we are not
prepared with life sustaining supplies, lif3e saving
training and a plan that brings neighbors together to
help one another.
What Can TRENO do?
-
Develop,
communicate and update a neighborhood emergency
response plan that anticipates communication,
safety, shelter, medical and food needs.
-
Survey
residents and develop a neighborhood "map" to
identify:
-
Residents
with special skills, training or equipment, who
are willing to help out if an emergency occurs;
-
Residents who may
need greater assistance because of their age or
health, or other special needs;
-
Provide residents
with emergency preparedness information;
-
Inform residents
of and coordinate emergency training opportunities.
